"CREW FOR YOU" - ANI 116 - Fall 2014
This is a sci-fi story I've created in my Concept Illustration class. This story takes place in the future where technology is so advanced that the need for natural materials is becoming obsolete. The world has destroyed many forests and covered many lands with man-made structures. The new policemen and soldiers of the world are machines, called "minions", made by the corporation of two ingenious scientists. When one of them, Abel, made a new hybrid design that uses human flesh combined with steel and plants to purposely be used to protect the remaining natural habitats of certain regions. The Hybrid is able to gain energy through photosynthesis, attach itself to plants to understand its environment, has the ability to heal, moves much faster and is more agile than the minions, and its IQ is so superior that it adapts to a hundred times more situations and circumstances than the minions. His partner, Cain, wanted to use Abel's technology to increase the strength for their soldiers and end the protection of the forests. Abel knew that his new hybrid design would be abused for evil purposes so he set his hybrid loose along with his son, Kimo, out into the forest to live. Back in the lab, Cain kills Abel and took the blueprints of the hybrid machines. But the blueprints and formulas were so complicated that he couldn't duplicate a complete replica: a machine that is part human and steel with limited skills in comparison with the first Hybrid. So Cain's mission was to send out his minions to the forests to capture the first Hybrid. Later in the story, Cain finds out that one of the key ingredients to the hybrids was the DNA of Abel's deceased wife and Kimo's mother. Because Hybrid 2's DNA is part of Kimo's mother, it will eventually recognize the biological similarity between both Hybrids and Kimo. The Hybrid's intelligence is so high that it overrides and reprograms itself to protect Kimo.

Stage Design Part 1
Abode (top) is the boy's living area where he rests and being protected by the Hybrid. "Sacred" (middle) is where the boy's parents are buried. The stage takes place underneath the tree where the roots form a wall around. "Common" (bottom) is a wasteland of the previous civilization that is also a battle ground for the Hybrid and the minions to fight for territory.
Stage Designs Part 2
This is a physical miniature stage I designed based on my "Sacred" stage sketch. The purpose for this is to find good lighting placements for the composition I wanted for the final rendering. Most of the materials used were plastic bought at Michael's, but there are a few things that were real like the twigs and sticks I got from my yard.
Final
My final rendering is the Hybrid and the boy being ambushed by the minions sent from the Corporation in the Sacred grave site.
